JCS SECURITY
JCS has 999 levels of security.
Within these 999 levels of security you can also do exception security and
security by staff role. Our product has one of the best and most flexible
security systems on the market today. Talk about user-friendly software,
including the ability to secure the system the way your administrators want to.
WE HAVE IT!
The following details different security
levels within our Juvenile Court System.
- NETWORK SECURITY - Provides
basic user access security
- RDBMS Security - Protects
the integrity of the data by preventing unauthorized users and applications
from making changes to the system
- Application security - 999
levels of user access security provided at the screen, button, and field
level.
- Menu security - Provides user access to
all or certain menu options
Detailed Security Definitions
Network security is fairly easily understood
as it relates to the application.
RDBMS security
is also very basic and easily understood. SoftTec does not provide access
for individual users to the database. The application contains one user id
and password. The application itself logs into the database as necessary
once the user is authenticated through the application security. User
security levels are not necessary as they relate to Microsoft SQL Server.
The application security system is structured
around several layers of security. This is the most complex part of the
security system. We designed this security around the specific needs of a
juvenile justice installation.
- Staff Role Security - This
is the primary security layer within JCS. This layer allows access to
or visibility of any object, data field or caption on any screen to be
secured for access to specific groups of users. This also applies to
menu options and entire modules. This security is the most powerful
security component of the system as it is the best mix of flexibility and
efficiency in administration.
- Module Level Security
- This is the most specific of the security controls within JCS.
This allows the system administration
team to limit or grant access to any specific element within the software
for a specific named user. This provides the most flexibility although
it requires a higher level of administration as staff turnover occurs.
- Security Groups - This is
the most general level of security as it provides the fastest way to set
security for modules, options, screens, or specific elements for large
groups of users at a time. Although it is not the only use of that
security layer, using this option clients have easy access to hiding that
security layer, using this option clients have easy access to hiding
complete sections of the application for the entire user base. This is
useful when there are areas of the software that you want to test for
integration and approve for use but phase in at a later time.
- Function Specific Security
- This is not actually a layer of security like the previous items in this
section. This is more of a random selection of juvenile court specific
security functions including the following:
- Access to sealed records - Certain users
may be granted access to see sealed records while these records are not
visible to the general user population.
- Access to modify released detention
records - certain users may be given access to update records for
released detainees without forcing your system administrators to set many
options throughout the detention system.
- Access to specific note types
- certain users may have access to view certain case notes within the system
while other users are screened from even having the knowledge that theses
notes exist.
